Our Mission Statement

Our mission at Equine Veterinary Services is to provide top quality lameness, reproductive and illness care coupled with superior wellness programs for horses in an effort to allow each individual horse to accomplish the competitive goals of their owners and the recreational value we all seek to have a happy, healthy and successful life.


About Us

Equine Veterinary Services (EVS) is a full-service veterinary clinic and breeding facility located in Terrell, Texas. Founded as an ambulatory practice in January of 1992 by Dr. Kenton H. Arnold, EVS was originally based in Sunnyvale, Texas. Equine Veterinary Services relocated a year later to its current location, a 38-acre picturesque facility located at I-20 and FM 2578 in Terrell.

The entire EVS staff is dedicated to providing high quality, comprehensive medical care for horses in Dallas, Kaufman , Rockwall and Van Zandt Counties. The equine veterinary clinic focuses on performance horse lameness and reproductive issues as well as wellness programs for all breeds of horses.

Kenton H. Arnold, DVM

Dr. Arnold holds degrees from Southwest Texas State University and Texas A&M University as well as a doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University.

An active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, he writes for equestrian publications on issues related to the health and well-being of performance and breeding horses. Dr. Arnold has served as a regular columnist for multiple equine publications and is currently serving on the Board of the Texas Horse Park.

Dr. Arnold is an avid cutting horse enthusiast, competing on a regular basis in NCHA, and AQHA competitions. He has been a top ten finisher multiple times in both cutting and pole bending competition at the prestigious AQHA World Show.

Prior to establishing his own private practice, Dr. Arnold was an associate veterinarian with Equiplex Veterinary Hospital in Flower Mound, Texas, where he worked with Dr. Bobby Willard.

Dr. Arnold is a founding associate of Animal Imaging, an outpatient imaging facility which provides state-of-the-art diagnostic imagining services to veterinarians, located in Irving, Texas, at the Las Colinas Equestrian Center.

Kim Nielson is our Office Manager

Kim Neilson, Office Manager

Overseeing the daily functions of the EVS office including client relations, billing and management is Kim Neilson. Originally from New York, Kim brings 29-years of experience in office oversight and management to the equine clinic. Kim's career has lead her across the country from New York, to Tennessee and Kentucky. While in Kentucky, Kim worked for the prestigious Denali Stud Farm.

Graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, and a minor in Equine Management, from Texas A&M University - Commerce, Ashley brings a lifetime with horses to her role as an EVS Veterinary Technician. Working as support for the EVS doctors on a daily basis, she shows compassion and competence in her work with both horses and equine owners. Ashley has been a part of the EVS team since 2008 when she began as a college intern with the clinic.

EVS vet tech Lynne Clayton is a lifelong horse lover, and has spent more than 10-years as an equine professional and veterinary technician. Starting out as a young girl in the Chicago, Illinois area, Lynne fell in love with her first horse at 3-years-old. As a young girl and teenager she was involved with Saddlebreds, and showed everything from Western Pleasure to English Equitation on multiple horses and breeds. Today she is a cutting horse enthusiast, showing her Quarter Horses when time allows at local competitions. Lynne has been a valuable part of the EVS Technician Team since 2010.

Jim Arnold is our Ranch Foreman

Jim Arnold has been a major contributor to the maintenance of the veterinary facility since 1992. Today, he serves as the year-round Ranch Foreman overseeing the barn and grounds crew of the facility and contributes during breeding season as a breeding assistant. Jim holds both a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Sul Ross State University. Additionally, he is a highly respected equine photographer specializing in cutting horse action shots, stallion photos and auction photography for organizations such as the National Cutting Horse Association, the American Cutting Horse Association, and Western Bloodstock, Inc., to name a few.
